Japonessa - Seattle, WA

Oy. I came here completely intent on hating this place. I was ready for it. I like writing bad reviews. Bad reviews are funny. Bad reviews are interesting. Bad reviews are unique. There are many, many ways to describe an awful place, but there are far fewer ways to describe a good experience. Unfortunately for me it wasn't that bad. Damn.

Named after what I assume to be a slur for a Tokyo princess, my friend and I went to Japonessa because it was the first place we saw that didn't have a pretentious name. Did you know there was a restaurant called "Taste"? That's ridiculous.

Fogo de Chao - Houston, TX

Fogo holds a special place in my cold, dark heart. I had both my college and law school graduation dinner party super happy shiny fun celebratory functions here by choice. Any time you pick a place for two big life events you know that it is a reliable, delicious, clean, outrageously great place to come stuff your face.

When you walk through the first set of doors you get to see the meat swinging around near the open flame. I love that. It makes you think you are in a hunter camp of men, where we hunt and kill things and then eat it. When you walk through the second set of doors you come across probably the nicest hostess in the city. I have no idea how many Red Bulls she drank before coming to work but she was very perky and happy and friendly and it scared me.

Gary Danko, now whoever came up with that name is an absolute genius.  I can honestly say that whenever i am taken or surprised to come here for dinner, i get chills coming down my spine, flushed and ooo so many things I care not to express..

Gary Danko is one of those place that you just have to appreciate their superb ambience, services and the food.  Gary Danko is not just a high reputable and pricey restaurant but it is a dining experience.  From the moment you enter into Gary Danko, it is a world that is far beyond your wildest imagination in regards to eating and dining.  The ensemble casts of hosts and waiters make Gary Danko what it is today.

Slate Restaurant Bar & Billiards - Flatiron, New York

I hate to admit it, but I love it here. On paper, this goes completely against my aesthetic. It is very corporate, boring dance music, boring corporate type crowd, overpriced food and pool table prices, predictable hip in a corporate way scene, dark, loud music, lots of button downs and trying too hard types, no sense of fashion, just...predictable.

I love it, and that's why I LOVE doing corporate magic. I'm with Malcom Gladwell, "I love the rarefied air of the corporate world"

Roy's Restaurant - Downtown Los Angeles, CA

I came here for a banquet at the end of last school year, and though it was kinda pricey, I can legitimately say that Roy's served me the best steak I've EVER had.
